Old Testament reading:Micah 6:1-8

New Testament reading: Matthew 5:1-3

Dear friends,

We live in a time of great pressure for anyone who wants to follow Jesus authentically. I think of it as a time of soft totalitarianism; with our constitutional guarantee of freedom of worship, we do not have authorities knocking at our doors to arrest us for gathering as the church. We don't need to fear identifying ourselves as Christians. But we do face great social pressure for standing up for Christ, and we risk retaliation if we try to live out our faith in public settings. How, then, can we strengthen ourselves to remain steadfast? Chances are we won't be able to stand if we try to stand alone; we need the fellowship of the church. In response to God's grace to us, let us gather [via Zoom] once again this Lord's Day to worship and pray, to hear God's Word, and to encourage one another. We will begin looking at the Sermon on the Mount and the Beatitude "Blessed are the poor in spirit." Please do join us!

In Christ's love,

Pastor Randy
