January 17, 2021 ~ "came not to be served but to serve..."

Dear friends and family,

Every one of us followers of Jesus is called to ministry, just as our Lord who "came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”  The question for us is not whether we are called, but rather to what we are called in our ministry in the world. My principle ministry as pastor is the ministry of the word, although the role includes an array of other tasks.  So it is in the body of Christ: one called to a ministry of encouragement, or administration, for example, is also to be a person of prayer. But I'm under requirement not to neglect my primary function, especially given the importance of preaching and teaching for the mission of the church. This requires more time, thinking, and prayer than many imagine. So does your calling.

How do you become equipped for your calling? How do you focus on it in a manner that enables you to fulfill God's plans for you? For the church to fully flourish, we each must focus on the ministry God gives to us.

The primary way we come to understand our gifts for ministry is in the weekly worship of the church. I invite you to join us this Sunday at 11:00 AM on Zoom as we come together to praise God, encourage each other, and be equipped for our own calling in the Lord.

With love for you in Christ,

Pastor Randy
