Psalm 119:

Psalm 119 is the longest psalm as well as the longest chapter in the Bible. It is an acrostic poem (in which the first letter in every line spells out a specific word), consisting of 176 verses in the English versions, divided into 22 stanzas of 8 verses each, one for each of the 22 characters that make up the Hebrew alphabet. In the Hebrew text, each of the eight verses of each stanza begins with the same Hebrew letter.

The subject of the whole psalm is the Torah – the Law of God as revealed to Moses and recorded in the first five books of the Hebrew scriptures (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy). To the psalmist the Torah it is more than Law; it is the truth from Yahweh, the way of life, and the ground of hope for being in the covenant of Israel’s faith.
