The Rev. Dr. Judith Hirsch-Fikejs - Pastor

Rev, Judith has been pastor of the Acton Church since 1985.  She is a graduate of Stephens College, Columbia, MO (B.A.), Fuller Seminary, Pasadena, CA (M.Div.), and Azusa Pacific University, Azusa, CA (D.Min.).  She is the daughter of a pastor and has worked in churches in a variety of settings since she was 17 years old.  She and her husband George have been married for 49 years, and they have three daughters and a son, and five granddaughters and a grandson.  She has been active in local activities through the years and writes a column for the local news media. She is the first full-time pastor to serve the church since its inception in 1888.

She has also served the greater Church in a variety of ecumenical settings, is a past moderator of the Presbytery of San Fernando, served as member of the Synod Council and its Executive Committee, served on several Presbytery committees throughout the years, assisted several churches as temporary moderator, was a member of the Advisory Board of the Acton/Warm Springs Rehab Centers, served as volunteer chaplain for five years at the Acton Rehabilitation Center and the Warm Springs Center, Castaic, CA, as well as serving for several years as volunteer chaplain at Valley Presbyterian Hospital, Van Nuys, CA.


Elder Judith Fox - Clerk of Session

Mrs. Fox is an Acton resident who has been a part of the church for nearly a decade.  She is presently serving as Clerk of the Session, and together with other Elders is responsible for developing and updating the church directory.  She also keeps the minutes of the Session and the Baptismal, wedding, church membership and ordination records of the congregation.  She is a native of Texas and a graduate of the University of Texas at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.  She can be reached at 661-269-5623.

 


Elder Virginia Maguire - Church Treasurer

Ms Maguire is a long-time Acton resident and before her retirement worked for the Los Angeles County Department of Social Services for many years.  She is presently assisting the youth of our community as an educational aide for the Acton-Agua Dulce School District. She served on the Board of Deacons prior to becoming an Elder.  She is a graduate of the University of Southern California.  She can be reached at 661-269-4028.


Elder Dana Abercrombie - Christian Education

Mrs. Abercrombie and her family moved to Acton nearly five years ago and together with her family has been active in church and community ever since.  She assists her Scout Master husband with Cub Scout pack 145, and together with her children, is a participant in classes at Dancin' in Acton.  She also participates in productions at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center in music and ballet.  She assists the church in many ways, not the least is being a part of the elementary Sunday school experience for our pre-school and elementary students and supervising the decorating and crafts for our Vacation Bible School each summer. She served on the Board of Deacons prior to becoming an Elder.  She is a graduate of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA (B.S.) and the University of Santa Clara, Santa Clara, CA (M.B.A.).


Elder Betsey Jones - Elder-at-large

     Mrs. Jones and her family have lived in Acton for many years.  She has served the Antelope Valley Community as a home health nurse for a number of years, and is now involved in administrating that program.  In spite of her busy health ministry, she manages to be involved in many of the church programs and activities.  She loves music and has been a long-time member of the church choir.  She is also a faithful participant in the Wednesday evening activities.  She is a graduate of Los Angeles Valley Community College where she received her A.A. degree in nursing and is a registered nurse.


Elder Dottie Nagatoshi - Congregational Care

 

Mrs. Dottie Nagatoshi has been a member of Acton Church for a number of years and has served for several terms as one of the members of the Board of Deacons.  She resides in the Newhall area and is a local real estate agent.  Dottie has been actively supporting the ministries that reach persons in the congregation and has been available to many who have needed emergency transportation and other services.  She has been a staunch supporter of the Food Pantry.  She can be reached at 253-3262.


Elder Sam Smith - Computer Lab/Arts/Church facilities

Elder Sam Smith and his family have resided in Acton for the past seven years.  Together they have been active in the church choir, youth ministry, and in assisting in the construction and development of the new computer lab.  Sam is a graphic artist and sculptor whose renditions of ancient crosses and Celtic symbols in a variety of metals have blessed many across the United States and abroad.  He is a native of Texas and a graduate of Texas Arts & Industry College (B.A.). Elder Steve Rodgers - Corporate President

Mr. Rodgers has resided in the Acton area for a number of years and serves hospitals, medical groups, and individual health care professionals by providing education and training in emergency procedures for their professional credentials.  Mr. Rodgers also serves as one of the Acton Church corporate officers.  He is an active participant in the annual Acton July 4th parade and gives wholehearted support to  youth activities in the community.  He can be reached at 661-269-2299.


Elder Jeff Fikejs - Elder-at-large

Mr. Fikejs and his family have been a part of Acton Church for over two decades.  All have been active in the music ministry, special projects, Christian education, and community services. He is active in his community where he serves as Junior Varsity football coach at Saugus High School.  He served on the Board of Deacons before becoming an Elder and has served as worship leader on many occasions.  He is a graduate of Tabor College, Hillsboro, KS (B.A.).  He can be reached at 661-977-7727.
